## GeneralWe’re building a stable-value cryptocurrency with the intention of having a significant positive effect on the world. Everybody says that sort of thing, but we really mean it. We're looking for a software engineering dynamo with form and character who can help us modify and extend an Ethereum fork without making a mess.Working on this project will require an expert knowledge of the Ethereum codebase (and specifically geth) and the inner workings of the EVM, a solid understanding of Go, an enthusiasm for testing (we use BDD and TDD), hands-on experience with cryptographic protocols, and a pretty good comprehension of how the web works. Bonus points if you’re familiar with testing smart contracts or web3.js. The ideal person for this job is experienced, self-motivated, reliable and trying to the best all-round person they can be. Aside from that, experience with cryptocurrency, large-scale economics or financial services applications would be extremely advantageous. ## Skills & requirementsWe're a small group of people who value self improvement, honesty, humility and curiosity tempered with a healthy skepticism. We like people who do everything to the best of their ability, but accept their limits. The problems we're trying to solve can be tough, and no one person has all the answers. But we're excited to try and find solutions, and you should be too. In terms of technical stuff, we require: - A minimum of one year's experience with Go, especially in reference to Ethereum. We only ship clean, well-tested, interface-first code. - Great communication. We're a distributed team, but we're also a lean startup. - Experience working remotely. It takes discipline and grit. - Some understanding of BDD, or at least TDD. We consider test coverage to be an integral part of good production code, and you should too. - A good understanding of Git. We love Git Flow like it's our own child. - Some familiarity with the terminal. We use Docker, as well as standard tooling like Makefiles and shell scripts. It would also be super if you: - Have experience with crypto startups, ICOs, and the like. - Have spent a couple of years working with web technologies. A good grasp of HTTP, REST, RPC (ideally gRPC) would be highly advantageous. - Really enjoy refactoring.- Have tinkered with k8s.- Consider documentation to be as important as code. - Have any background in philosophy or economics. - Administer Linux boxes for fun and profit. - Have a deep and abiding love for vim or neovim. There may be a fight if you fall on the Emacs (ie. wrong) side of the tracks. - Think tmux is just super.

Job Type: Full-time

Cryptocurrency Software Engineer - Pyrofex Corporation - Orem, UT
2w

Are you interested in working with a hard-core team of brilliant engineers on a technology that could change the world? Tired of corporate awareness training, pointless meetings, bloviating managers, and political games? Looking for an environment that hires great engineers, gives them the tools to do great things, and expects them to do so?

Pyrofex is hiring. Come do your best work.

Pyrofex Corporation is one of Utah Valley's newest cryptocurrency startups. Founded in the Spring of 2017 by ex-Googlers Mike Stay and Nash Foster, Pyrofex is working hard to create the next-generation of blockchain platforms and decentralized applications.

At Pyrofex, we hire for strength, and not for lack of weakness. We hire for capability and talent, not specific knowledge of a tool or language. We believe real innovation requires constant learning and learning requires constant failure. Nobody learns to ride a bike until they skin their knee. One of our founders has a Ph.D., but the other one dropped out of college. (Twice!) The path we've taken to get this far is unique and we suspect the same will be true of our best employees.

Pyrofex hires engineers at all levels of experience—from current students, to recent graduates, to academics, to engineers with decades of experience. We are particularly interested in programmers that have knowledge of functional programming, a background in computer science, and can program in Scala. However, if you think this job is a fit for you, we're willing to take a look.

We are currently hiring Software Engineers to help us deliver the RChain platform, which is written in Scala. Developers on this team will design, implement, test, deploy, and manage a large-scale global software system using Linux, Scala, the JVM, C/C , and Python.

Design and architecture requires you to work well with others, take their amorphous sets of needs and use cases, and distill these into written designs and specifications. Good implementations require a fastidious attention to detail, knowledge of your programming tools, and the ability to produce working, correct code on the regular. Pyrofex builds cryptocurrency systems and large-scale distributed and decentralized applications. Five years ago, we thought things like SRE and DevOps would make it clear what "deploy and manage" meant for the future, and now we know we were wrong. The future is changing too fast and our job is to try to keep up. That said, from time to time, we all have to get out of bed at 2AM to deal with something broken.

If this sounds good to you, then e-mail us at jobs at pyrofex.net with the subject line, "AWWWWWW YEAH CRYPTO!." We would like to see a resume or your linkedin profile. We would enjoy a cover letter in which you tell us about your work ethic and your favorite project. If you can send us examples of your code, that would be most excellent.

Community Builder - 8 Circuit Studios - Austin, TX
2w

Community Manager / Builder

Job Description

We Believe...Blockchains are powerful - and we believe that everyone should benefit from them. Video games are an amazing way to teach people how to use this new source of power (blockchains) and it ought to be accessible, easy, and most importantly, fun. 8 Circuit Studios creates the alien technology to make these things so. We are building blockchain video games with Smart Game Objects. Our games remove the barriers to entry into cryptocurrency and our Smart Game Objects extract the objects from the game and put them on the blockchain, placing ownership of these objects in the hands of gamers. But this is just the first step! If you believe in the power of the blockchain, where video games help bring people into the world of cryptocurrency, and provide a platform for gamers, content creators and publishers to be rewarded, we are looking for a community builder/manager to help us spread the word and shepherd our followers.

As the community manager you'll be the first point of contact representing 8 Circuit Studios. Community Builder - 8 Circuit Studios - Seattle, WA

If you can send us examples of your code, that would be most excellent.

bread
We are looking for an experienced C developer to join our mobile team to help us build the best crypto currency experience in the world. Our vision is to decentralize banking and bring the power of financial services to everyone in the world, including the nearly 2 billion adults that to this day remain unbanked. ---- __Embedded development at Bread__ Bread's origins trace back to the desire to build a beautiful product underpinned by beautiful software. Our mobile wallet connects directly to cryptocurrency peer to peer networks and as such has a unique set of requirements that differs from those that depend on a centralized server. To accomplish this task we've built a standalone C library which provides a full bitcoin SPV wallet. Aaron Voisine, the author of the library, has painstakingly crafted this library so it can be used in both our iOS and Android wallets. This codebase is responsible for providing access to billions of dollars in assets on customers wallets. It's paramount that we continue to maintain and evolve the library to meet our business and our customer needs. This includes adding support for more cryptocurrencies, and building a testing infrastructure so we can automatically verify correctness. ---- __What we're doing at Bread__ Bread is at the heart of a financial revolution. We're building the missing piece of infrastructure that ties together the essential functionality of a bank, but where individuals retain complete control over their assets. As a a financial infrastructure company, our mission is unlikely to ever be complete. We need continually strive to bring the power of our apps to new regions of the world, some of which have never had wide access to banking functionality. Our approach to this problem heavily focuses on several core tenants. For one, we will never have direct control or visibility over customer funds. It is not our job to interfere in the personal financial lives of our customers. This is accomplished by using digital assets like Bitcoin, and a mobile app like ours which manages its assets on-device. The second tenant of our approach is to provide integration with the traditional financial system. Regardless of the currency, people still need to get paid, pay their bills, pay for goods at merchants, and send money to their family and friends. We are building infrastructure that integrates with local financial businesses that tie in with local currencies and adhere to local laws. Finally, we need to fight for a quality consumer experience. This is why we try to retain control over every moment of our customer's interaction with our products. We relentlessly design, redesign, test, and experiment to ensure our customers have a positive, safe experience. ---- __What it's like to work here__ We've built a lively remote work culture that emphasizes regular personal interaction. At Bread, we started as a remote team and have built our workflows around it. This allows us to hire people who want to work with us, regardless of where they've decided to settle (or roam). Work-life balance is important to everyone at Bread, and we strive to ensure everyone has enough time for family, exercise, and mental health. In our opinion, a happy and healthy team is an essential ingredient to finding creative solutions to the hard problems we're trying to solve. We're more operationally transparent than you may be used to. The entire Bread team has access to a variety of dashboards that help our distributed team make better decisions. If you have a question that can't be answered by a dashboard or an easy query, let's see if we can fix that. Bread is committed to building an actively inclusive work environment that makes our team an excellent home for everyone—regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, education, age, or other personal characteristics. ---- __Requirements__ There are no hard requirements, so if you see something listed here that you're unsure about, please don't hesitate to ask! * 5 years of software engineering experience * Confidence working with low-level C code * Ability to write unit tests, integration tests * Comfortable working with threading, sockets, and cryptography * A desire to learn and grow your skills * You value your attention to detail Nice to haves: * Experience with the low level concepts in blockchains * Mobile development experience * Java and JNI * Swift and Swift-C bindings * Crypto currency experience will help you get up to speed quicker ---- You should include these in your application: * Resume and LinkedIn profile * Links to code samples on Github, Gitlab, etc

OCaml Engineer for PL/distributed-systems cryptocurrency project
2w
O(1) Labs

O(1) Labs is a small, well-funded startup aiming to develop the first cryptocurrency protocol that can deliver on the promise of supporting real-world applications and widespread use. Our team is based in San Francisco, and we are funded by top investors (including Polychain, Metastable, and Naval Ravikant).

Cryptocurrency is a domain where correctness really counts. As such, a cornerstone of our approach is a focus on building reliable software through the use of statically-typed functional programming languages. This is reflected in our OCaml codebase and style of structuring code around DSLs, as well as in the design of the smart-contracts platform we're developing.

There is no need to have prior experience in cryptography, and we're hiring engineers to work on a bunch of exciting projects including:

  • Our OCaml DSL for writing zk-SNARKs (a cryptographic primitive for certified computation).
  • The design of a virtual machine and higher-level languages for smart contracts (there a lot of interesting challenges here since the VM has to be efficient inside SNARKs).
  • Working on the core networking, cryptography, and reliability aspects of the protocol.

This is a chance to join a small, collaborative team and have a ton of independence while working on fascinating cross-disciplinary problems in computing. We also offer competitive compensation both in salary and equity as well as top-of-the-market benefits.Ideal candidates will be interested in any of:

  • functional programming
  • programming language theory
  • security
  • distributed systems
  • cryptography
  • cryptocurrency

There are no hard requirements and we're more interested in learning about your individual background.

If you'd be interested in talking further, please get in touch by sending an email with your resume and the subject "Engineering applicant" to jobs@o1labs.org.

We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive company. We strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply inclusive of gender, age, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, education, or other personal characteristics.
