Senior Software Engineer, Xpring at Ripple (San Francisco, CA)
5h

Xpring is a new initiative at Ripple focused on accelerating adoption of the digital asset XRP and the XRP Ledger in blockchain projects across industries and technologies. Xpring aims to build a robust ecosystem of third-party developers, projects and companies that build, grow and monetize their applications on XRP, Interledger Protocol and other blockchain technologies. We invest in, and partner with companies and projects run by proven entrepreneurs and are building open-sourced, decentralized technologies to solve customers’ problems in transformative ways.

The Interledger Protocol (ILP) provides the foundation for the Internet of Value. ILP is an open protocol that enables sending money in any currency and any amount to be as easy, fast, and inexpensive as sending information across the internet today. Like routers on the Internet, Interledger connectors route packets of money across independent payment networks. The open architecture and minimal protocol enable interoperability for any value transfer system. Interledger is not tied to any one company, blockchain, or currency.

We believe that interoperability is critical to achieving the Internet of Value and envision a widely available Interledger network allowing anyone to pay or get paid in the currency of their choice, nearly instantaneously and at minimal cost. We are looking for engineers who share in that vision. It’s a big vision and we have a lot of work to get there but we are committed to building out the team to achieve this.

This role is based in San Francisco.

WHAT YOU MAY WORK ON:

  • Create and improve open source sender, connector and receiver implementations

  • Operate and scale a robust Interledger Connector

  • Contribute to ongoing protocol development

  • Prototype new use cases or experiences using Interledger and/or XRP

  • Work with other external entrepreneurs and ecosystem stakeholders to continuously improve the Interledger network’s speed, scalability, and functionality

WHAT YOU MAY LOOK LIKE::

  • You love programming!

  • You have worked on open source projects, developer platforms, and/or API-driven businesses

  • You are experienced working with any of the following: Typescript/Javascript, Java, Rust, Go, or Python

  • You are excited about blockchains, the technical details, and the potential benefits

  • You seek to deeply understand the low-level details of the technologies you work with and the problems you work on

  • You look to solve problems with simple solutions, rather than technically perfect ones

  • None of the above, but the description of the project piqued your interest enough to want to talk to us

Linux Systems Administrator at Pyrofex Corporation (Orem, UT)
6d

Are you interested in working with a team of hard-core engineers on a technology that could change the world? Tired of corporate awareness training, pointless meetings, bloviating managers, and political games? Looking for an environment that hires great engineers, gives them the tools to do great things, and expects them to do so?

Pyrofex is hiring. Come do your best work.

About Us

Pyrofex Corporation is one of Utah Valley's newest cryptocurrency startups. Founded in the Spring of 2016 by ex-Googlers Mike Stay and Nash Foster, Pyrofex is working hard to create the next-generation of blockchain platforms and decentralized applications.

About You

At Pyrofex, we hire for strength, and not for lack of weakness. We hire for capability and talent, not specific knowledge of a tool or language.  We believe real innovation requires constant learning and learning requires constant failure. Nobody learns to ride a bike until they skin their knee. One of our founders has a

Ph.D., but the other one dropped out of college. (Twice!) The path we've taken to get this far is unique and we suspect the same will be true of our best employees.

As a growing startup company, Pyrofex is searching for a systems administrator to help build our Linux infrastructure and network.  Our administrators are self-starters who can multitask in a busy environment, automate repetitive tasks, and attend to all the details of our increasingly complex infrastructure.  They work independently and efficiently, accomplishing projects in a timely manner.  Knowledge of infrastructure, multi distribution, SenOs, and Ubuntu will benefit the position.

About the Job

We are currently hiring a Linux System Administrator to run the day to day operations of our busy development office.  We are looking for someone who is quick on their feet, can quickly efficiently solve problems, and keep things running optimally.  We are all working together to deliver new products in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space.

Successful administration requires you to work well with others.  Good administrators demonstrate a fastidious attention to detail, knowledge of firewalls, continuous integration, scripts, networking, and the ability to produce working code.  Five years ago, we thought things like SRE and DevOps would make it clear what "deploy and manage" meant for the future, and now we know we were wrong. The future is changing too fast and our job is to keep up.  From time to time, we all have to get out of bed at 2AM to deal with something broken.

If this sounds good to you, then email us at jobs@pyrofex.net with the subject line, "PAGE ME YOUR 4AM CRYPTO PUMPS!!!." We would like to see a resume or your linkedin profile. We would enjoy a cover letter in which you tell us about your work ethic and your favorite project. If you can send us examples of your code, that would be most excellent.

Gemini is regulated and licensed like a bank, but it’s run like a tech startup, and engineering is the core of the company. There’s a wide range of tough problems to solve at Gemini – from properly securing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of customer funds, to developing innovative new blockchain products, to finding new techniques to combat fraud, to shaving microseconds off our API response times, and everything in between.

Cryptocurrency Software Engineer. at Pyrofex Corporation (Provo, UT)
1w

Wanted: Cryptocurrency Software Engineer

Are you interested in working with a hard-core team of brilliant engineers on a technology that could change the world?

One of our founders has a Ph.D., but the other one dropped out of college. (Twice!) The path we've taken to get this far is unique and we suspect the same will be true of our best employees.

Pyrofex hires engineers at all levels of experience—from current students, to recent graduates, to academics, to engineers with decades of experience. We are particularly interested in programmers that have knowledge of functional programming, a background in computer science, and can program in Scala. However, if you think this job is a fit for you, we're willing to take a look.

ABOUT THE JOB We are currently hiring Software Engineers to help us deliver on a new blockchain platform as well as a Decentralized Integrated Development Environment (DIDE). Developers on these teams will design, implement, test deploy and manage large-scale global software systems. Ideal candidates will have experience in web dev, backend dev, Linux/Unix programming compilers and distributed systems. Experience with formal verification and Haskell is a plus, but not required.

Design and architecture requires you to work well with others, take their amorphous sets of needs and use cases, and distill these into written designs and specifications. Good implementations require a fastidious attention to detail, knowledge of your programming tools, and the ability to produce working, correct code on the regular. Pyrofex builds cryptocurrency systems and large-scale distributed and decentralized applications. Five years ago, we thought things like SRE and DevOps would make it clear what "deploy and manage" meant for the future, and now we know we were wrong. The future is changing too fast and our job is to try to keep up. That said, from time to time, we all have to get out of bed at 2AM to deal with something broken.

If this sounds good to you, and you are located in the state of Utah (this is not a remote position, nor is there availability for relocation) then please e-mail us at jobs@pyrofex.net with the subject line, "AWWWWWW YEAH I'M IN!!!." We would like to see a resume or your linkedin profile. We would enjoy a cover letter in which you tell us about your work ethic and your favorite project. If you can send us examples of your code, that would be most excellent.

Cryptocurrency Software Engineer. at Pyrofex Corporation (Provo, UT)
2w

Wanted: Cryptocurrency Software Engineer

Are you interested in working with a hard-core team of brilliant engineers on a technology that could change the world?

If this sounds good to you, then e-mail us at jobs@pyrofex.net with the subject line, "AWWWWWW YEAH I'M IN!!!." We would like to see a resume or your linkedin profile. We would enjoy a cover letter in which you tell us about your work ethic and your favorite project. If you can send us examples of your code, that would be most excellent.

Blockchain Systems Research Engineer at Innovation Research Labs (Amsterdam, Netherlands) (allows remote)
    3w

    Background

The nature of work is changing: how we work, where we work and the value of our work.  Our aim is to promote the adoption of democratic governance in highly participatory organizations as an alternative to current day corporations by leveraging distributed technologies such as secure multiparty computation, blockchain and byzantine fault tolerant algorithms. Through our research we uncover knowledge and develop tools and methodologies that assist in implementing democratic governance in both commercial and not-for-profit organizations of all sizes.

We are building an organization that is more akin to an ecosystem than a corporation, that addresses these problems with human-centric solutions that are open source and efficient systems for human cooperation. We imagine a world where human-meaningful ways of organizing become the norm. Organizations that elevate—in which their members find purpose, move towards greater harmony with their environment, community and experience safety to operate and innovate. We look for strong values driven people that share our vision.

    Technical Area

    • Distributed technologies such as blockchain, sMPC and BFT algorithms

    • Decentralized application design and implementation

    • Consensus Methods

    • Cryptography

    • Mechanism Design

    • Incentive structures and Game theory

    Role

We are looking for a full time Blockchain Systems Research Engineer to join us, a diverse group of people with strong values. Designing the blockchain product solution architecture combining software and systems engineering to build and run scalable, highly distributed, fault-tolerant systems. We believe in growing engineers through ownership and leadership opportunities. As such you are responsible for defining your research goals within the context of our larger common goals. Your direction outside of the technical sphere plays an important role, understanding how technology can impact the social, psychological, economic and governance aspects from a human perspective.

You will operate in a highly participatory democratic organization. We constantly work with many unknowns and you get a sense of purpose from applying your domain knowledge to ambiguous and novel situations. You can operate well in an open source environment and you have a good intuition for good research and how to turn that into successful products.

    Values

We are strongly values driven. We believe that this provides the structure to scale our organization, innovate our technology and attract top talent as we strive to change the world towards a better future. These values apply to how we work and the philosophy of the solutions we create.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • More than five years of professional experience in engineering with a demonstrated track record of technical innovation and leading successful engineering teams

    • Experience developing distributed applications

    • Knowledge of Distributed Ledger Technologies space with deep expertise in certain areas such as Ethereum/Quorum, Hyperledger frameworks, Interledger Protocols

    • Experience building custom blockchains

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills

    • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team

    • Experience providing guidance and leadership to technical teams

    • Values driven and intrinsically motivated towards our goal of data sovereignty

    • Comfortable collaborating with geographically dispersed teams

    • Strong drive to solve problems that drive change based on engineering excellence

    • Stay ahead of the technology curve, in tune with relevant research, trends and the competitive landscape

    • Participation in various blockchain development communities and contribute to the source code is preferred
