React Native Engineer - Parity Signer (m/f/d) at Parity Technologies (Berlin, Germany) (allows remote)
2w

We at Parity have been developing Parity Signer for some time.

It started as a simple idea: why not create an app to turn your old smartphone into a free cryptocurrency wallet? We already had all the necessary crypto-primitives for our blockchains implemented in Rust, so all that was needed was a React Native UI to create an app to read and generate QR codes.

A couple of years, ~600 commits and 24 releases later, with over 12 thousands lines of TypeScript/TSX code in the codebase — there are still a couple of big and important security and usability features which are waiting to be thought through and implemented. And after that it would be time to finally bring Parity Signer for an independent security audit — and maybe, just maybe, officially calling it a Release instead of Beta.

This is why we’re looking for a React Native Engineer to work on Parity Signer full time.

To see how we use your data please see our Applicant Notice

Core Developer - Runtime (m/f/d) at Parity Technologies (Berlin, Germany) (allows remote)
2w

At Parity Technologies we have built and launched next generation blockchain networks like Kusama and Polkadot atop the Substrate blockchain framework. These networks provide the largest staking platforms, the most advanced on-chain governance systems, fast and efficient cryptocurrencies, and more. All of these systems are powered by FRAME and the Runtime Pallets included with Substrate, which are available for all Substrate developers to use.

What you will do

We are looking to expand the team which develops these core runtime systems. This involves maintenance of existing pallets, modifications and upgrades for the needs of the network, and even entirely new pallets which provide value to our end users.

As a part of your job, you will need to design crypto-economically sound protocols which incentivize and control the behavior of anonymous and potentially malicious actors. You need to write comprehensive tests or even try to attack our systems in the same ways malicious actors will. You will need to architect migration utilities to allow existing networks to use new features and functionalities seamlessly. You will need to provide support to developers who may want to integrate and use FRAME and these runtime pallets.

Beyond the development of the runtime systems, you will also work to develop FRAME itself. Your research and development of user friendly APIs will make your life and the lives of other runtime developers more easy. This involves writing Rust macros and developing new utility libraries.

Responsibilities

In the context runtime development within Substrate, we expect you to (among other things):

  • Research and learn about the end users of our network.

  • Engage with council and governance systems which give direction to the development of our networks.

  • Write clean, functional, and “absolutely correct” code for our blockchains.

  • Develop crypto-economically sound protocols which incentivize behaviors we want.

  • Manage complex state machines which are resistant to attacks.

  • Potentially contribute to JavaScript frameworks to enable users to easily access new features.

  • Collaborate with other members of the team and open-source contributors

Benefits

  • Working at Parity means focusing on the stuff that counts: building of the most cutting-edge technology for the future web. Our teams enjoy a high degree of trust, freedom and autonomy to achieve that goal.

  • Because we value initiative and learning, we've defined a generous personal budget to attend conferences or skills courses of your own choosing. We think you know what's best for you!

  • Parity is a diverse company with people from various countries and we will support you with German language courses where needed.

Fullstack Developer at Arweave (Berlin, Germany)
3w

Full stack developer, with frontend focus

PERMANENT – ON-SITE OR REMOTE – FULL TIME

Arweave is a permanent information storage network, built on a new type of blockchain called a blockweave. We are working to solve the problem of the ‘memory hole’, as formulated by George Orwell in Nineteen Eighty-Four, by building the first data storage medium that truly never forgets. Arweave works by rewarding network participants for contributing hard disk space to the network, in a similar fashion to proof of work in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

What you’ll do
You’ll be located in our Berlin office and work closely with the core team, but should be able to
work independently and be self-directed.
Primarily designing, developing, and testing Javascript/TypeScript based applications that work with the
Arweave immutable storage network. The role is flexible and you’ll be given freedom to give
your input and proactively shape our products and processes. You’ll be involved in all aspects of
the development cycle from initial ideas, gathering requirements, prototyping, development,
deployment and maintenance.
The Arweave network is accessible over a JSON based HTTP API which lets us develop
applications using traditional web technologies, so you’ll need to be experienced with core
frontend technologies like JS, HTML, CSS, have experience with some backend languages e.g.
Python, PHP, Node, Go, etc, database technologies like MySQL, and have general *nix server
admin skills. Knowledge about AWS and cloud services would be useful.

As our current and planned products are mainly Javascript SPAs you’ll need experience with:
- Strong practical knowledge of ES6
- Practical experience of using Vue.js, React, Angular, or similar JS frameworks along with
Vuex/Redux or some other similar state management pattern
- SASS/SCSS or LESS
- Webpack, Gulp, Grunt or similar build tools and preprocessors
- Git, testing and CI tools

We aim to open source as much as possible, so attention to detail is important and you’ll be
responsible for ensuring code is of high quality and well documented.
An eye for design is needed as you’ll be building and shaping user interfaces. Some
understanding of blockchains would help but this can be learnt on the job.
The role will be based in our office in Berlin. We are looking to fill the position immediately.
To apply, and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via email at kyle [at]
arweave.org.

About Us

By providing permanent, low-cost, and truly censorship-resistant data storage for everyone, we strive to democratise the information space. To achieve this, our team has built and now supports an online, open source, blockchain-based network providing decentralised data storage distributed worldwide.

  • We’re an English-language team of very skilled and highly motivated entrepreneurs and hackers with diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

  • In spring 2018, we graduated from the Techstars Berlin accelerator programme and have access to a worldwide network of expert advisors and investors.

Arweave is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from everybody.

Distributed Systems Architect, Consensus at Radix DLT () (allows remote)
3w

As the consensus architect for Radix, you will lead the charge on transmogrifying theoretical consensus models into bulletproof implementations. You will take the reins on a white-knuckle ride through the marvelous new world of decentralized finance. Your brain will bend in ways it wasn’t meant to be bent, you will form lifelong bonds with a team of incredible people, and you will forever remember the journey.

You will first come up to speed by aiding in the delivery of an unsharded public network which functions according to well-known, documented concepts. Building upon this knowledge, you will venture into new territory, solving the challenges of bringing Cerberus, our model of sharded consensus, to life. From this point forward you will be making new ground right at the cutting edge of public ledger systems.

About You

  • You’re a confident coder who maintains a healthy set of academic chops. You aren’t intimidated by whitepapers or pages full of italics and Greek letters.

  • You have built things which went into production, and understand the necessity of practicality over elegance.

  • You welcome healthy debate. When your ideas are challenged, your first reaction is not to get defensive, but to consider and analyze.

  • You’re intelligent and learn quickly. This is a rapidly evolving branch of computer science, and we don’t expect you to come in the door already a master of consensus theory.

About Us

We labor in the service of our great master, Cerberus. Cerberus is the first model of consensus that delivers high throughput while solving the central need of decentralized finance—atomic composability. We call him “Cerby” for short.

Though geographically diverse, we are an exceptionally close-knit team. We count on each other, and we take comfort in knowing the team is always there to step in and take up the load when we run into tough problems. A few times a year we all fly to an exotic destination for a week of planning, hacking, and festivities (except when driven underground by the covid beast). The anticipation leading up to these “Radix summits” is the adult version of looking forward to your favorite holiday.

Decentralized finance and Ethereum are groaning under the stress of too many users pounding square-peg needs into a round-hole platform. We went back to first principles to come up with the right solution, and we have already tested out at over 1 million transactions per second. We have forged a path deep into the future of what distributed ledger technology is going to look like, together with the business case that assures adoption, and we need you to come and be part of the team that is making that happen right now. Join us!

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies

  • Masters level degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

  • 5 years experience in design and implementation of consensus systems / distributed ledger technologies.

  • 5 years experience in software design and architecture.

  • Extensive knowledge of Java and associated tooling.

  • Proven technical leadership skills for scrum-size (5-8) person teams.

  • Proven teamwork skills.

Senior Backend Engineer for Crypto Trading Platform at Cove Markets () (allows remote)
3w

We launched CoveTrader in late 2018, a platform for active traders of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The crypto market is highly fragmented with dozens of exchanges, but CoveTrader ties them together in one powerful and transparent trading and analytics platform.

We are currently a team of 6, including one senior and one junior backend engineer, with decades of experience building highly performant trading systems across financial markets. We are looking for an engineer to join our team as we scale our product, add new features and analytics, and expand to support other financial products. Asset Integration Engineer at Exodus.io () (allows remote)
3w

Description

Exodus is looking for an engineer who is excited to explore and integrate bleeding edge cryptocurrencies into the Exodus wallet. Your role as an Asset Integration Engineer is to make new blockchains accessible to the millions of users who use our wallet to secure and exchange their crypto assets. We are looking for a JavaScript engineer who is excited about the crypto ecosystem and self-motivated enough to bring new assets into our wallets.

What You Will Do

  • Reduce the number of failed exchange transactions that our customers experience.

  • Research the blockchain technicals that underpin new assets and figure out how to integrate them into our Desktop and Mobile wallets.

  • Work cross functionally with our DevOps team to configure full node software.

  • Write indexing services in JavaScript that interface with the asset’s full node.

  • Modify front-end React.js components in our wallets in order to support the asset.

  • Implement or use 3rd-party libraries for asset signing and transaction creation.

  • Work with the UX designers to implement UX edge cases specific to each asset.

  • Work with external staking providers to implement staking functionality for relevant assets.

Framework and Languages

  • JavaScript

  • Node.js

  • REST / GraphQL

Who You Are

  • You have excellent debugging skills. Your first responsibility will be working across a number of existing assets in order to get failed exchange transactions as close to zero as possible.

  • You’re self-motivated, well organized, and an excellent communicator - both written and verbal.

  • You have a strong NodeJS and React background.

  • You are someone who is able to unblock themselves in a largely asynchronous work environment.

  • Experience with crypto and blockchain technology is a requirement. Familiarity with a specific asset is a bonus. We aren’t looking for BTC maximalists with this role. We are looking for someone who is curious about the entirety of the crypto space and is curious to explore all the nuance that it has to offer.

  • Someone who is self motivated and can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.

  • You have a deep knowledge of the Node.js APIs and are comfortable writing asynchronous algorithms.

  • You have a basic understanding of cryptographic primitives like hashing, macs, PK-crypto, and signing.

  • You're helpful and willing to offer assistance to other team members within the company.

What your Journey Will Look Like at Exodus

In the first 30 days you will become oriented with our team structure, culture and codebase. You will begin to contribute pull requests and learn our release process and overall peer review cycle. By the second month you will begin working cross functionally with the team and actively take ownership of any issues with our exchange. After 90 days you’ll know our asset libraries like the back of your hand and will be able to make recommendations to the rest of the team seamlessly.

What we Offer
